What are the signs of a bad asset-based loan? Tim Cella Former Paralegal at  Ascent Law  (2018–2021) Thank you for your question. Based on my experience there are several signs that can indicate a bad asset-based loan. What follows is my belief. I know I am correct on most, if not all of these factors; however, there might be more than what I’ve jotted down here. 1.  High-interest rates : If the loan comes with exorbitantly high-interest rates, it may be an indicator of a bad loan. This can lead to significant financial strain and difficulty in repaying the borrowed amount. 2.  Hidden fees and charges : A bad asset-based loan often involves hidden fees and charges that can significantly increase the total cost of borrowing. These hidden costs may be undisclosed during the initial loan agreement, leading to unexpected financial burdens. 3.  Inflexible repayment terms : If the loan terms are rigid and inflexible, it can be a sign of a bad loan.   What are some possible consequences for individuals involved in tampering with evidence in a criminal investigation? Tim Cella Former Paralegal at  Ascent Law  (2018–2021) I actually know of a former prosecutor from Florida who got in trouble with this. It can be a temptation I suppose, but if you are in the position, it is better to think that everyone is watching you so you don’t make a mistake. Regardless of the jurisdiction you are in, tampering with evidence in a criminal investigation is a serious offense that can result in severe consequences for the individuals involved. Some possible consequences include: Criminal charges : Those found guilty of tampering with evidence may face criminal charges, which can vary depending on the jurisdiction and the specific circumstances surrounding the case. Possible charges can range from obstruction of justice to tampering with physical evidence, perjury, or even conspiracy. Imprisonment : If convicted, individuals ...

What are the consequences of pleading guilty in a federal criminal case? Tim Cella Former Paralegal at  Ascent Law  (2018–2021) This is very broad. I’ll do my best because it does depend on what charge or charges you are pleading guilty to. Also remember that although I’ve work in several law firms, I'm not an  attorney , and this information should not be taken as legal advice. It’s always a good idea to speak with a lawyer that is licensed in your jurisdiction. With that being said, the consequences of pleading guilty in a federal criminal case can be very serious and complex, depending on the nature of the charge, the jurisdiction, the evidence against the accused, and other factors. Here are some general consequences one might face: Conviction Record : Pleading guilty generally results in a criminal conviction. This record can impact future employment, housing, and personal rights, such as the ability to own a firearm. Remember that expungement of a f...

Why do we have so much crime? Tim Cella Former Paralegal at  Ascent Law  (2018–2021) I have an opinion as to why there is so much crime. I’m not certain that the opinion I hold is true, so I’m open to more information and research. I also think that there are many reasons that crime exists, so there isn’t just 1 reason. I personally believe that the decline of the traditional family structure is a contributing factor to increased crime rates. With that being said, it is crucial to acknowledge that crime cannot be solely attributed to this single factor. Also, societal changes and trends evolve over time, making it challenging to pinpoint any one cause as definitive. The traditional family structure typically refers to a household comprised of married parents raising children together. It is argued by some researchers and social commentators that a decline in this structure may lead to negative outcomes, including higher crime rates. They suggest that the stabi...

What are some things parents say about the non-custodial parent? Tim Cella used to work at several law firms The answer to this question really does depend on the type of relationship the exes have with each other. Positive statements : I rarely see these when working in divorce/custody cases. They should happen but are rare. Neutral statements : These comments simply acknowledge the non-custodial parent's presence or role, without injecting positive or negative statements. "Your dad/mom will pick you up on Friday." "You got your sense of humor from your father/mother." "You'll be spending the holidays with your mom/dad this year." Negative statements : Unfortunately, in cases where there's animosity, parents make negative comments about the non-custodial parent. It's generally considered unhealthy and harmful to the child's emotional wellbeing to express these negative feelings, especially to the child. Such as: "Your father/mot...
