Why does a married believer have to go before a non-believer to obtain a divorce? Tim Cella Former Paralegal at  Ascent Law  (2018–2021) This is something you can ask during a  meeting with a divorce attorney . This is a good question. It really depends on what religious tradition you are referring to — at least, when you use the terms “believer” and “non-believer” I takes those to be from a religious context. With that being said there can be several reasons why a married believer may have to go before a non-believer to obtain a divorce, when looking at the three major Abrahamic faiths (Judaism, Christianity, Islam): In Judaism, religious Jewish courts (batei din) have authority over divorces for Jews. However, to be recognized by civil authorities, the divorce (get) often has to be finalized through the civil court system as well. In Christianity, especially Catholicism, getting a religious annulment of the marriage through church authorities does not equal a legal civil divorce.

Can people be civil during a divorce? Tim Cella Former Paralegal at  Ascent Law  (2018–2021) I’ve worked with a  divorce lawyer  for years and my answer would be an absolute yes. I believe it is possible for people to be civil during a divorce because I’ve seen them do it. I’ve never personally be divorced so I believe it can be challenging. Here are some things that I’ve seen work for other during the years: -  Stop arguing . Focus on resolving issues in a respectful manner rather than attacking each other. Avoid blaming and keep communication calm and thoughtful. -  Put your kids first!  Prioritize the wellbeing of any children involved over your own emotions. Make transitions and custody arrangements as smooth as possible for them. - Be willing to compromise. Approach the divorce as dissolving the marriage, not each other's lives. Seek fairness, not retaliation. - Involve neutral mediators or therapists if needed to facilitate important conversations. They can help you communica

How has technology affected divorce rates in this generation? Tim Cella Former Paralegal at  Ascent Law  (2018–2021) Just now So I’ve personally seen divorces — good ones where the parties are kind to each other despite the fact that they are divorcing and I’ve also seen ones where the parties end up hating each other and try to use their kids as weapons to avoid paying  child support  — so I’ve seen alot. With that being said, I think technology has had both positive and negative impacts on divorce rates in recent decades. Here is why I think what I think: Communication technology like cell phones and social media can make it easier for couples to stay connected, but can also facilitate infidelity and make it harder to disconnect. This goes both ways in terms of impact on divorce rates. Dating apps and websites have made it easier for people to meet new potential partners. This expands options and facilitates people leaving marriages, potentially increasing divorce rates. Technology a
